Naomi Campbell chews fat with Hugo Chavez

Prez disses US and Duchess of Cornwall

Battling Streatham clotheshorse Naomi Campbell has quite magnificently conducted an interview with Venezuelan prez Hugo Chavez, in which the latter predictably railed against the US and concluded that Camilla Duchess of Cornwall is "not as attractive" as the sainted Diana, Queen of Hearts™.

Campbell jetted to the sun-kissed paradise upon the Caribbean on behalf on GQ magazine, and conducted a "wide-ranging" face-to-face with Chavez, describing him as "fearless, but not threatening or unreasonable", the Telegraph explains.

Chavez, doubtless speaking quite fearlessly from behind a BlackBerry-proof toughened glass screen, variously slammed George Bush as "completely crazy" for trying to have him popped off, praised Fidel Castro's uniform as "impeccable", and doubted "there is any country in the world with more freedom of expression than here".

To prove the latter point, Chavez first weighed into the US, declaring: "We're seeing the fall of the Empire. When the world is in fear - that's the first step before the fall."

He then turned on Chaz of Wales's squeeze Camilla, gawd bless 'er, saying: "I like the Prince. Now he has Camilla, his new girl. She's not as attractive, is she?"

On a more serious note, El Prez proclaimed his human rights record to be as "impeccable" as Castro's starched jungle greens, explaining: "Here, we are just starting a peaceful revolution. We don't have a single political prisoner. We have not shot anyone. We've prohibited the detention of anyone for political reasons. Everyone is presumed innocent and their human rights are respected."

Campbell subsequently said of her "controversial" meet with America's latest bête noire: "I didn't want to judge Chavez, or probe him for his political views, even though he gave them freely. I simply went to interview Hugo Chavez the man."

And regarding Hugo Chavez the man, when asked by Campbell if he'd be willing to do a Putin and whip off his top for the delight of Friends of Dorothy worldwide, he said: "Why not? Touch my muscles!"

Campbell's interview appears in the next issue of GQ, on sale Thursday. ®
