EMC buys web services startup Infra
Washes down Iomega tears
EMC is showing the world today that it's a brave little guy about the rejection of a hostile $178m takeover bid from Iomega.
The company is publicly devouring someone else instead. EMC said it will acquire the privately held software company Infra Corp. for an undisclosed amount.
Infra vends web-hosted software designed to automate IT management processes for big businesses. EMC will marry the code with its own online services plan, which the company has been busy expanding this year.
EMC said Infra will join its Resource Management Software business unit. The new team will continue to be led by its chief Andy Wade, who will report to EMC veep of resource management, Chris Gahagan.
EMC said the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on revenue or per-share earnings in 2008. ®
