Japanese woman moves into bloke's closet
House owner alerted by disappearing food
A Japanese woman has been cuffed for "sneaking into a man's house and living in his closet without him knowing", the AP reports.
The 57-year-old owner became suspicious after food went missing from the fridge, and he duly installed a surveillance set-up which caught the domestic stowaway wandering his gaff while he was out.
Cue a police search of the residence in the city of Fukuoka, which discovered 58-year-old Tatsuko Horikawa "living in a small storage space". She'd apparently made herself right at home with a mattress in her cubby-hole, and explained that she'd moved in because she had nowhere to live.
Police explained she'd been in residence for about a year "but not all the time" - which would explain how the legal resident came to miss his ghostly house guest, we suppose. ®
