Knight Rider satnav spied in the wild

It's real and it's coming soon

Video The Knight Rider satnav won global acclaim after being spotted earlier this week. But anyone doubting its authenticity can now rest easy, as maker Mio has confirmed it's existence. And a demo video has surfaced.

A video posted onto YouTube shows the KITT-inspired satnav working in all its directional glory. As previously reported, the GPS gadget greats you with “Hello, Michael, where would you like to go today?” when you turn it on.

Although we’re reliably informed that the satnav’s voice is supplied by William Daniels – the original voice behind KITT – the satnav makes Daniel’s voice sound slightly more robotic than it did while the gang chased down criminals across the US. However, fans of the show will probably be willing to overlook this for the sake of getting an in-car KITT.

And, according to a report by Cnet, the Mio Knight Rider satnav will be released in the US on 8 August for $270 (£135/€155).

A UK release date hasn’t been tracked down yet.
