Edugeek.net, the support site for, er, geeks who work in education, has been brought down by Fasthosts.
The hosting service has launched its infamously glacial technical support into action, but the site has been down since Tuesday morning. Edugeek provides - when it's up anyway - free technical support and forums for admins who work for schools, colleges and universities.
The website's administrators are still waiting to hear when the problem, now believed to be a broken disk, will be fixed.
A frustrated administrator told The Register: "I've sent them a string of emails and never get more than an automated response - except when we got 92 users to email in at the same time. What's annoying is we can't tell our users, or our sponsors, when it will be fixed - we're losing revenue every day."
Edugeek is currently considering different hosting providers.
We contacted Fasthosts' PR department but have yet to hear back from them.
Fasthosts had problems last year when a hack attack meant it had to tell all its hosting customers to change their passwords. Several customers ended up losing access to their websites as a result, and a number of its dedicated server customers had problems back in April. ®
