NZ in 'Old Bo***ck Road' balls-up

Never mind the bullocks...

NZ's Wellington City Council has promised to remove a sign in the suburb of Highbury which proudly alerts the public of the location of Old Bollock Rd, the New Zealand Herald reports.

Council spokesman Richard MacLean described the reclassification of Old Bullock Rd as an "astounding" error and admitted "someone had obviously not read the old sign too clearly".*

MacLean confirmed the offending sign was for the off, adding that the council had "already had numerous calls from people wanting to get their hands on it". He said: "We're having an informal discussion now about what to do with the sign when it finally does come down... anything could happen cause clearly it's an instant classic and a trophy."

The Herald concludes by quoting the obligatory irate local, who thundered: "I'm all for better signage for footpaths but at least they should get the name right. This is a real balls-up."

Bootnote

*Yes, we were thinking the same thing - there was nothing wrong with either the eyesight or the spelling skills of whichever wag knocked together this signage.
