Tiny MyCar named electric vehicle of the year

Be handy if you could buy it

'Leccy Tech No, we're not sure about the MyCar's looks either, but that hasn't stopped the electric two-seater winning GreenFleet magazine's electric vehicle of the year award.

The Italian-designed MyCar is made in Hong Kong and offered in the UK by Nice - aka No Internal Combustion Engine. We say offered, though the £8995 motor doesn't go on sale over here until later this month.

MyCar: not available to buy, but winning awards already

GreenFleet's judges appear to have gone for the MyCar on the basis of its specs appeal: its 40-mile single-charge range in "normal city driving" conditions and recharge time of 6-8 hours.

Nice says the thing'll hit 40mph - possibly more with the wind behind it - and boy racers will be able to kit it out with 15in alloy wheels. Leather interior covering, seats that can be set to cool or heat your heinie, and a boot rack are among the other options available to buyers.

The battery's a lead-acid job, while the car itself is clad in fibreglass-reinforced plastic on a steel tubular spaceframe with tubular roll-bar.
