Videos cast light on BlackBerry Storm

Launch date still unknown

The BlackBerry Storm handset is as good as confirmed now, following the airing of a Storm advert on US TV and the leak online of a promotional Storm video.

The TV advert is quite basic and blurred, but it appears to show the Storm being picked up off of a table. Just as the user has it in his grasp, the screen cuts out and flashes up the messages “BlackBerry Storm” and “Coming Soon”.

US carrier Verizon Wireless aired the Storm advert, but this is no great surprise in itself because Verizon has long been inked as the exclusive US carrier for the first touchscreen BlackBerry. The advert was aired during an episode of US sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

A professional Storm promotional video has also been loaded onto YouTube. Although pretty much all of the phone’s features have all already been leaked, this latest video, from Vodafone, takes users through a general description of all the handset’s features.

For example, messages flash up that Storm’s able to handle both voice and data streams simultaneously. The phone’s other features include music playback, web browsing, GPS guidance and expandable memory through with a Micro SD card.

All that’s needed now is for RIM to officially acknowledge the phone’s existence. Or, thinking about it, do consumers really need that at all?
