Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg wants a slice of the digital music biz action, since the other boys (MySpace) have their own portion.
According to the New York Post the fact that News Corp launched MySpace Music just last month means boydroid Zuckerberg also wants in on the whole shebang.
He’s in discussion with a number of song-streaming services and music community sites including iMeem.com, iLike.com and Rhapsody.com, according to the paper-citing chaps familiar with the situation.
MySpace Music, the ambitious new joint venture between major record labels and News Corporation, finally went live last month.
Facebook wonks have also been meeting with major record labels about a possible deal which, unlike MySpace's effort, will not involve securing licences to distribute music, nor trying to build a money-making empire from scratch.
However, Zuckerberg is merely eyeing up the possibility of Facebook getting involved with the messy music biz by chatting to "potential partners", a spokesman told the paper. ®
