Nikon has unveiled its latest flagship digital SLR camera: the D3X, which boasts an enviable 24.5-megapixel CMOS sensor.
Nikon's D3X: features a Kevlar/carbon-fibre shutter unit
The high-spec shooter features an "Advanced Scene Recognition System" that Nikon claimed will produce “precise exposures and sharply defined images” by combining the camera’s metering and auto-focus sensors.
ISO sensitivity can be set between 100 and 1600, and the D3X also supports five frames per second consecutive shooting. Its 3in LCD display doesn’t tilt or swivel, but does have a 170° viewing angle.
ISO sensitivity tops out at 1600
Twin Compact Flash card slots mean you’ll have plenty of storage space available for shots, while the D3X's HDMI port will let you display snaps directly on your HD TV. A USB port’s also built into the body.
The D3X may be high-spec, but it’s also tough thanks to the Kevlar/carbon fibre-composite shutter unit. The body is constructed from magnesium alloy. Controls and hand grips are also said to be ergonomically designed, which is... er... handy.
Nikon's D3X will be available later this month for £5500 ($8433/€6646).
