Sony Ericsson hits road with Bluetooth jukebox

Sony Ericsson has promised that its new Bluetooth stereo streaming unit will turn your car into a wireless jukebox.

Sony Ericsson's AB900 streams mobile music to your car stereo

The AB900 measures 120 x 69 x 16mm and straps onto your car’s sun visor, allowing you to stream tracks to it from your mobile phone. The A2DP Bluetooth 2.0 device then broadcasts tunes over your motor’s stereo system, using RDS to automatically find the right frequency for you.

A “call-handling display” also lets you make hands-free calls to five favourite numbers, in addition to voicemail. But when a call comes in, the music’s automatically paused until you’ve stopped nattering.

And you’ll have plenty of time to natter before the AB900 kicks the bucket, because its battery lasts for up to 26 hours in talk mode or 40 days in standby.

Noise and echo reduction features are also integrated into the device, as an added bonus.

Sony Ericsson hasn’t announced a launch date or price for AB900 yet. ®
