Obama awaiting super-secure BlackBerry delivery
The BlackBerry One, for presidents only
BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has designed a new model, but you’ll never get your hands on one because this emailer’s been designed with just one person in mind: Barack Obama.
Obama’s BlackBerry love has been well documented, but according to various online reports, he’ll soon take delivery of a super-secure model designed to ensure calls and emails to and from the President stay out of unauthorised hands.
Already unofficially dubbed the BlackBerry One – for obvious reasons – it’s been claimed that Obama’s BlackBerry will feature SecureVoice encryption software developed, in part, by US security agency the NSA.
But Obama’s BlackBerry – models of which will also be issued to family members – won’t guarantee super-fast connections. It’s thought email delivery could take up to 50 minutes because sunglass-wearing security agents must first check his emails for viruses and, possibly, offers for Viagra pills.
Hopefully, the BlackBerry One will also be equipped with other presidential-grade phone features, such as a bulletproof touchscreen, a second battery supply and a Kevlar coating. ®
