Brocade 'restructuring' personnel for Ethernet push
Layoffs or not?
It has been rumoured that Brocade is planning to sack 200 to 400 excess employees following on from the $2.6bn Foundry acquisition closure.
The rumours say that Brocade is focussing more on Ethernet and IP networking and less on Fibre Channel.
Brocade's John Noh - Senior Director for global public and analyst relations - denied this, saying "Brocade has made some personnel changes to better align our talent with our go-forward strategy. These decisions are designed to leverage the significant growth opportunities available, as well as maintain our delivery of the industry's highest performance end-to-end networking solutions.
"We are confident that these strategic realignments will help position us to maximize the many exciting growth opportunities that lie ahead."
He added: "It's important to note that this was a restructuring to invest in more growth areas, not a layoff." Asked to confirm that there were no layoffs he said: "You can say we described it as a 'restructuring to invest in more growth areas,' which it was."
So that's clear then. ®
