Pirate Bay co-founder demands new police probe

Claims too many ties to opponents

One of the Pirate Bay’s co-founders is calling on Swedish police to conduct a new investigation into the notorious BitTorrent site’s operations.

Peter Sunde - aka BrokeP - said in a blog post yesterday that himself, and the three other Pirate Bay men who were convicted of being accessories to breaching copyright laws last month, could demand “a completely new police investigation”.

"Too many people have ties to our opponents and have been proven to be on the payroll or promised to become employed in the future," wrote Sunde.

"We want everything to be in the eye of the public so that we can get help to see that everything is correct."

Defence lawyers acting for The Pirate Bay co-founders have already filed official appeals against the copyright infringement convictions that were dished out to the men in April.

Just days after the men were fined and sentenced, a Swedish radio station revealed that the judge presiding over the case, Thomas Norström, was a member of the same pro-copyright groups as several of the main entertainment industry reps in the case.

Sunde and co immediately demanded a retrial. ®
