HDS' puzzling clustered storage controller launch

Oh you big tease

Highlight May 27 in your diaries: Hitachi data Systems is making what chief scientist Claus Mikkelson calls "a big announcement" then.

Mikkelson doesn't give the game away, but bizarrely offers an anagram clue instead, writing in his blog: "Anybody want to try to figure out what we’re announcing? Then solve this anagram: REGRADES OUR CLASSY TREAT".

Storage blogger Chris Evans has one possibility. He has re-arranged the letters to read CLUSTERED STORAGE ARRAYS.

El Reg thinks HDS is going to announce a revamped high-end USP-V and USP-VM storage array with clustered controllers. We're guessing up to 8 controllers and maybe support for 3,000 disks or more. Evans mentions automated sub-LUN data placement, capacity scalability and better virtualised array replacement.

He also says the HDS anagram could be solved to read A DEARY STORAGE CONTROLLER. Nice one. ®

Bootnote

We at Vulture Central have also been considering what Claus may be hinting at, and feel that Chris Evans is not being anywhere near adventurous enough.

Our favourite possibilities for next Wednesday include SECURELY GARROTED AS STAR, ADULTERESS AS ORGY CRATER and, if you really want a press conference image to conjure with, EASY SLAG REAR DESTRUCTOR.

The mind truly boggles.
