Nintendo admits to rival DSi handheld
Mystery console already designed
Nintendo has revealed that it’s already designed an alternative handheld console to the DSi.
The handheld was conceived at some point during the previous three years, but the gaming giant’s Global President, Satoru Iwata, told CNBC that it’s since decided not to release the mystery device.
He didn’t disclose any technical information about the console and stressed that “the most important thing is to sustain the momentum. If introducing new hardware won’t do anything to do that, well…”.
So how does Nintendo intend on sustaining its sales momentum? A price cut’s unlikely because Iwata added that slashing a console’s price has a “rather limited effect” and so Nintendo doesn’t currently have any plans to cut the Wii’s price. ®
