Nintendo unveils pulse-sensing peripheral

Nintendo has proven that it’s still got its finger on the pulse of gaming by unveiling the Wii Vitality Sensor (WVS).

The gadget looks much like the sensor a doctor or dentist would clip onto your finger before you go under the knife, and connects directly into the Wii’s Remote.

Nintendo’s keeping mum about exactly how WVS will be used but said the gadget will detect your pulse and “a number of other signals” being transmitted by your body.

A game tie-in hasn't been annouced

The aim’s to provide you with “information about the body’s inner world”, so we assume that it’ll show real-time information on screen about, say, how fast your heart’s racing during an energetic Wii Fit session.
