GE vet joins Bartz revolution
Nearly four months after announcing that CFO Blake Jorgensen would be leaving the company, Yahoo! has named his replacement: 40-year-old Tim Morse, a 15-year veteran of General Electric.
Morse joins Yahoo! after serving as CFO at Altera Corp., a semiconductor outfit specializing in programmable logic devices.
Jorgensen departs the Google rival as new CEO Carol "F Bomb" Bartz continues to overhaul the company's management team. Bartz was brought in after the Jerry Yang regime failed to accept a $47.5bn takeover offer from Steve Ballmer and Microsoft, and Yahoo! soon parted ways not only with Jorgensen but also President Sue Decker, vice president and general manager Neeraj Khemlani, and mobile chief Marco Boerries.
Before joining Altera in 2007, Tim Morse served as the CFO and general manager of business development for General Electric Plastics and held other executive positions with GE Plastics, GE Appliances, and GE Capital in North America, Europe, and Asia.
"Tim has a proven ability to translate strategy into structure, process, and execution, and I am delighted that he will be joining my leadership team to help drive Yahoo!'s growth," reads a canned statement from Bartz. "With his passion for operational finance, global experience, and expertise simplifying complex organizations and managing growth, Tim is a natural fit for Yahoo!." ®
