Summer slimline PS3 rumours hotting up

Production contracts said to show July delivery

Sony has entered into commercial arrangements for the production of a slimline PlayStation 3, it has emerged.

The electronics giant has signed up motherboard maker Foxconn and product design firm Pegatron to jointly manufacture the slimmer model, according to a report by Taiwanese website UDN.

Nothing concrete is known about the model's technical features or design, but the report added that the first slimline PS3 deliveries will be made this month “in order to meet summer demand”.

While the site’s Taiwanese translation is quite rough, the raw details do hold some weight. Earlier this week, an industry mole hinted on website Ars Technica that Sony plans to introduce a slimline PS3 in August.

And let's not forget those infamous slimline PS3 pictures published recently. ®
