The Royal Society of Chemistry is rather improbably looking for a Janet Leigh lookalike to star in a homage to the celebrated shower scene from Psycho.
The planned reenactment of Leigh's demise - entitled Shower Murder - is planned for the 50th anniversary of the original. It's designed to show us Brits just how much water we're unneccesarily washing down the plughole, and how the express 60-second shower can help protect the environment.
RSC chief exec Dr Richard Pike explained: “Our video will also compare the amount of water that is being used by some people taking notoriously long showers, and will spell out and quantify, through laboratory analysis, the kind of substances that are washed down the plughole by prolonged soaping and repeated application of gels and shampoos.
“It is these that are placing an increasing demand upon the purification processes within the water networks.”
Shower Murder will appaear in due course on the RSC's website. If you fancy starring in the "tasteful" vid, email a passport pic to Sheena Elliott at ElliottS@rsc.org. ®
We look forward in due course to the RSC's homage to Waterworld - without the water, naturally, because mankind has showered it all away.
