Apple tablet unveiling brought forward

Moles move launch from 'early 2010' to September 2009

Apple addicts need no longer wait until early 2010 to get their hands on the firm’s long-rumoured tablet PC, because – contrary to an earlier report - it’s since emerged that the firm’s gunning for a launch within months.

People briefed on the subject recently told newspaper the Financial Times that Apple’s working towards a September 2009 launch date for the tablet PC.

While specific technical details are still scarce, the unnamed sources did apparently reveal that the tablet will have a touchscreen display measuring up to 10in. A potential price hasn’t emerged, yet.

Such a large display will obviously make the Apple tablet a target for movie fans – a conclusion that led one entertainment executive to tell the newspaper: “It’s going to be fabulous for watching movies”.

The tablet will also connect to the Internet, it was reported, but probably won’t be able to make telephone calls.

Apple’s tablet PC will be launched alongside a music album entertainment deal, internally nicknamed “Cocktail”, sources also told the newspaper.

This will see reportedly record labels EMI, Sony Music, Warner Music and the Universal Music Group bundle interactive booklets, sleeve notes and other interactive features in with music downloads bought through iTunes. ®
