8GB iPhone 3GS inbound?

Leaked screenshots suggest so

Apple has secretly developed an 8GB iPhone 3GS that is currently winging its way to a Canadian electrical retailer, leaked images suggest.

Screenshots of documents entitled “Rogers 8GB iPhone transitioning to 3GS” were picked up by website Boy Genius Report and seem to hint that the retailer’s running down its stocks of the 3G, while also adding an 8GB 3GS to its inventory.

The screenshots should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt, though, because large parts of both screenshot’s text have been cut off – so we only really have half the story. There’s also not much evidence available to convince us that the text is genuine.

No details about the 8GB 3GS’ technical features or possible price tag are revealed, either.

Nonetheless, a quick scan of Rogers’ website did reveal that nearly all of its iPhone 3G and 3GS stock has been depleted – with the exception of the black 16GB iPhone 3G- which could indicate that change is in the air.

It’s worth noting that rumours of ever smaller capacity iPhones aren’t uncommon. Back in June El Reg reported how a series of bootlegged presentation slides purporting to detail plans for an “Apple iPhone (4GB)” had appeared online.

The slides were, supposedly, leaked from Fido Solutions - a Rogers subsidiary company - where the tidily capacity iPhone would allegedly go on sale for $99 with a three-year contract. ®
