Motion-sensing skateboard game landing by Christmas

Tony Hawk: Ride

When images of a skateboard videogame peripheral emerged earlier this year, gamers were left puzzled over what Tony Hawk had up his sleeve. But online retailer Game has since revealed that the pro skateboarders’ latest title will be out within months.

Tony Hawk: Ride - skateboarding without wheels

Tony Hawk: Ride will ship with a Wii Balance Board-esque skateboard, which you plop in front of your TV and use to pull off kickflips and ollies that are then replicated by an onscreen character.

The board – which doesn’t have any wheels, we should point out - uses a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors and, according to Hawk, “resembles a blank skate deck”.

Tony Hawk: Ride is now available to pre-order online from Game, priced at £100 ($117/€169). It's compatible with the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will be shipped out on 20 November. ®
