Dell ditches 12in netbook

Screen too big for SCC success?

Dell has trimmed some of the fat from its netbook line by ending the production of its Inspiron Mini 12 notebook-not-netbook.

The Mini 12 – reviewed here – had a 12.1in display and, according to Dell’s Chief Blogger, Lionel Menchaca, “10in displays are the sweet spot for netbooks”.

That goes some way to explaining why the PC firm has decided to dump the machine, although Dell hasn't stated specifically why it has chosen to cull the Mini 12.

The 12in Small, Cheap Computer is still available in North America through the @DellOutlet store, but the firm hasn’t confirmed how long it will be before current global stocks of the machine dry up. ®
