Dell unpacks 'easy to own' Vostros

Mid-size laptops with middle-of-the-road features

Dell has beefed up its Vostro PC range with the creation of three… ahem… “easy to buy” and “easy to own” laptops.

Dell's Vostro trio come in two sizes: 14.1in and 15.6in

Quite what the PC manufacturer means by either statement isn’t clear and it's also keeping mum on the full technical specifications of the Vostro 1014, 1015 and 1088, for the time being.

But since one of the models – the 1015 – has already been listed on Dell’s UK website, we can take an educated guess at what specifications to expect across the range. For example, while Dell has confirmed that all three feature Intel Core 2 Duo processors – we know that the 1015 is available with either a Core 2 Duo or Celeron CPU.

The PC maker hasn’t mentioned anything about memory or storage capacity, but the Dell UK site also informed us of the 4GB DDR 2 Ram inside the 1015 and its 320GB HDD. The machine also has an Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics core integrated into its chipset.

A webcam's an optional extra

All three machines will be available with your choice of a 14.1in or 15.6in screen, Dell promised. An integrated 2Mp webcam is optional – pretty cheeky since most laptops now come with webcams as standard - but you will get a five-in-one memory card reader.

A rollout for the Vostro trio is ongoing across Europe, with the first deliveries into North America are expected over the next few months. Prices start at £293 ($483/€342) when you add VAT. ®
