Samsung readies 'space saving' 2TB external HDD
Capacity boost
IFA Samsung is to ramp its Story Station external hard drive to 2TB early next year, part of the South Korean giant's plan to become a major name in the storage biz.
Revealing its plan at the IFA show in Berlin today, Samsung said it will first up the capacity of its stylish S2 2.5in external hard drive to 640GB later this month - the drive family currently maxes out at 500GB.
Samsung's S3 Station: bigger capacity, snazzier design than before
The Story Station is a 3.5in desktop drive. It's currently available in 1TB and 1.5TB capacities - we reviewed the 1TB model here, and a nice drive it is too.
For the 2TB model, Samsung appears to be dropping the 'Story' moniker in favour of 'S3'. It also gets a "classic piano black glossy casing with a space-saving footprint", Samsung said - which, as you can see from the pic, just means it's placed on end - when it ships "early next year". ®
