Many BlackBerry users are finding themselves bereft of connectivity as the service crashes out for some, while others continue oblivious.
First reports of a problem came in this morning, but as they were on the Orange network (which is also titsup today) it seemed the carrier was to blame. But not so - BlackBerry fans on other networks, and on the other side of the pond, are also reporting a lack of connectivity that seems to stem from an authentication problem.
Certainly not everyone is being affected, many users report getting their email fix without difficulty, and it seems few Enterprise users (running their own BlackBerry servers) are having problems. However, for those who find themselves electronically alone there's not a lot that can be done.
Some users have reported connectivity being restored by resetting the device, but even then it seems the fix is short-term and connections drop within 10 minutes or so. We've contacted RIM about the problem, but not had any official comment as yet.
So if you're a BlackBerry user, on the Orange network, then we'd wish you the best of luck if you were able to read this, which you're probably not. Ho hum. ®
