Citroën redesigns the 2CV
"A lively performer with strong acceleration", apparently
Leccy Tech Citroën has joined VW in proclaiming the redesign of an iconic model as a leccy concept for tomorrow, which - in this case – is the 2CV.
Citroën's Revolte harks back to 2CV days
The hybrid Revolte e-car is powered by “a small-capacity conventional combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a battery re-charging function”, designer Citroën said.
Apparently this setup makes Revolte “a lively performer with strong acceleration”.
Sadly Citroën hasn’t released anything even close to Revolte’s technical details yet, suggesting that its drive train is little more than a scribble on the back of an envelope.
Spot the "feminine, cosmetic setting, of bold and elegant design" interior
Citroën has, however, said that while all-electric drive is the car's primary mode of transit – its small petrol engine can drive the wheels directly.
The 2CV heritage can allegedly be seen in the e-car’s styling cues - although we think it looks rather more like a Chrysler Crossfire.
According to Citroën, Revolte’s interior has been designed to place occupants in a “feminine, cosmetic setting, of bold and elegant design”.
That statement is sure to have André Lefèbvre – an engineer behind the 2CV - spinning in his grave, and at a significantly higher RPM than the original deux chevaux’s 375cc engine was capable of.
Revolte production isn't planned
Citroën doesn’t currently have any plans to put an e-car resembling the Revolte into production. ®
