First Direct sorry for text mess

Random accounts sent to random punters

First Direct has apologised to customers who received text messages which included transactions from other customers' accounts this morning.

The bank was working on systems overnight which led to the problems this morning.

A spokeswoman for First Direct said only subscribers to text banking were affected.

She said: "We're aware of a small number of customers who have been affected by this - including me. I received a text message this morning which included transactions which aren't mine. We'd like to apologise and to reassure people that there was no security breach."

She said customers had already been in touch about the messages. The bank is working on fixing the issue and will be in touch with customers. ®
