Puma to pump out handset

Football-focused phone?

You probably know Puma best for its trainers, but the sportswear firm has now laced up a deal to bring the world a branded mobile phone.

The company has partnered with Sagem Wireless in a deal that will see Puma's phone kicked into touch during Q2 2010 – in plenty of time for the World Cup, which takes place in South Africa next summer.

Puma has yet to announce any of the phone’s technical specifications, but promised that the device will “embrace both sport and style with features, functions and design that reflect the DNA of the Puma brand”.

Sagem has been called upon by Puma to integrate “exciting technologies and services” into the sporty handset.

Puma intends to sell the phone from its own stores and through network operators. ®
