Jobs go at Novell
And pensions suspended
Novell is cutting jobs in various departments and in various countries.
The Linux vendor, which has spent recent weeks cutting its UK distributors, will trim between 100 and 130 jobs from its total headcount of 3,900.
The cuts come across geographies and departments and staff are getting severance packages based on length of service, a spokesman for the firm told CNet.
Novell is also suspending contributions to employees' 401K pension pots.
The company also confirmed yesterday that it will post results for the fourth quarter, and the year, on 3 December. Its last quarter saw sales fall 11 per cent but profits hit $16.7m, compared to $15m loss the year before.
Novell is seeking to take its unending legal battle with SCO over Unix ownership to the Supreme Court. ®
