The Blu-ray Disc Association's specification for incorporating stereoscopic 3D content on Blu-ray media, won't appear until the second half of 2010, AMD has said.
The chip maker yesterday said it would partner with software maker CyberLink to demo stereoscopic 3D content coming off Blu-ray at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which takes place in January 2010 in Las Vegas.
AMD said the specification will be "finalised over the coming year".
Given Sony's plan to release highlights from next summer's World Cup on Blu-ray Disc, it's not hard to see the widespread roll-out of 3D TV technology springing from the soccer tournament - and undoubtedly from next year's Blu-ray release of James Titanic and Terminator Cameron's 3D epic, Avatar. ®
