DS crowned UK's favourite console
Sales surpass 10m units
Over 10m Nintendo DS handhelds have been sold in the UK, making the gadget Blighty’s favourite console of all time.
Newly released figures from market watcher GfK Chart-Track have revealed that 10.05m DSs have crossed the counter since the console first went on sale in the UK almost five years ago.
Sony’s PlayStation 2 was, until now, the UK’s most popular console, notching up sales of 10.02m units since the year 2000.
In excess of 5700 DS consoles are sold in the UK each day, Chart-Track added, and almost one in six Britons now owns one.
The PlayStation Portable’s UK sales stand at somewhere in the region of 3.2m units, while Brits have snapped up roughly 2.5m PS3s, 3.9m Xbox 360s and 6m Wiis to date. ®
