Packard Bell preps Moto GP champ backed PCs
Valentino Rossi sponsorship
Motorcycle racing fans will soon be able to relive the smell of burning rubber and singed knee pads on their desktop – well, sort of – because Acer offshoot Packard Bell plans to launch a Valentino Rossi PC range.
The nine times Moto GP world champion has signed up to promote the PC firm’s notebooks and netbooks for “on-the-go” types with a love for all things motorcycle related.
Technical details about Packard Bell's Rossi range are scarce
PB is keeping mum about the range’s technical specifications for now, but did let slip that Rossi’s personal graphic designer, Aldo Drudi, has lent his hand to the PC range’s styling.
What might one expect of a motorcycle-inspired PC range? A netbook with rubber undercarriage? Wireless handlebars instead of a mouse? Perhaps a free notebook bag made of Rossi’s old racing leathers? Who knows.
What we do know is that PCs in the range will feature Rossi’s signature on the shell, the number 46 – Rossi’s racing number - and the famous 'Sun & Moon' design etched onto the champion’s racing helmet.
PB hasn’t said when its Valentino Rossi PCs will leave the starting grid or how much they will cost. ®
