Jedi chapter seeks leader after master resigns

Surrey feels a great disturbance in the force

Surrey's nascent Jedi community is looking for a new leader after the incumbent, Master Ajac, was forced to step down for health reasons.

The Surrey Advertiser reports that the 25 strong group is looking for someone with "a background in martial arts and a deep understanding of the teachings of the Jedi, the religion featured in the Star Wars films."

It also notes the ability to keep a secret would be a help - the two year old group meets at an undisclosed location, and while open to new members presumably is wary of being swamped by neophypte padawans.

Chapter founder Daniel Jones told the paper that meetings include "meditation techniques, Jedi theory and lightsaber practice."

They also learn "Jedi mind tricks, or neurolinguistic programming, as a way of dealing with people in a peaceful and calm manner."

Not that a new leader can't expand the curriculum, says Jones. “It will be down to the new master to decide any new teachings, so I wouldn’t like to state what they are before we get a new leader.”

One thing that is unlikely to change is the dress code, with some members required to wear special robes at some ceremonies. Regular meetings require a simple black jeans and T-shirt ensemble. ®
