Toshiba's second Blu-ray player nears Blighty
Entry-level box due in May
Toshiba's second Blu-ray Disc player will hit the UK in May, the company has confirmed.
The £130 BDX2100KB is pitched at punters look for a low-cost entry into Blu-ray. It offers the standard BD Profile 2.0 spec, so that's BD Live support you can tick. There's 256MB of on-board storage for downloaded content.
Toshiba's BDX2100KB: entry level
Downloads are fed through the player's Ethernet port. More content can be pulled off storage connected to the player's USB jack. It has HDMI 1.3 for picture output at resolutions of up to 1080p. It also supports cinema-style 24 frames per second - aka 24p - output.
Lower-resolution material is upscaled accordingly.
In addition to BDs, the BDX 2100KB will play JPEG, MP3, DivX, AVCHD and MKV files.
The Toshiba BDX2100KB will be available from May for around £130. ®
