Welsh auditor in court over child abuse images

Released on bail

Jeremy Colman, the ex-Auditor General for Wales, has appeared before magistrates on 14 charges of making and possessing child sexual abuse images and failing to disclose a password.

He has been charged with making and possessing 429 images, 126 of which were level four - the most serious images, sadism and bestiality, are level five. He has also been charged with failing to disclose a key to protected information.

He was released on bail on condition that he stays off Wales Audit Office property, does not contact any of its staff and remains in the UK, the BBC reports.

Colman resigned in February after his work laptop was seized following a complaint by Audit Office staff to the Welsh National Assembly.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images four days later.

Colman ran the spending watchdog for five years.

He will return to court April 30. ®
