Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro Symbian smartphone
Out of touch?
Review I've seen the original Vivaz - reviewed here - and found it to be a bit of a curate's egg: good in parts, though I forgave its quirks in favour of its stylish look and quality camera.
Sony Ericsson's Vivaz Pro: eye-catching and comfortable in the hand
Now comes the Vivaz Pro, aimed, as the name suggests, at more serious users and is, in effect, a Vivaz with a slide-out Qwerty keyboard. The camera resolution has been dropped from 8Mp to five, while most of the other features remain. But is more of the same really enough?
The Vivaz Pro retains the same stylish curved shape as its predecessor and doesn't at first glance appear to be any bigger. In fact it is slightly larger, but the main difference is the weight, up from 97g to 117g which certainly makes for a heftier handful though it's not like you'll need to up your workout regime to lift it.
Once again, the 3.3in touchscreen takes up most of the front, with those sliver call start and stop buttons flanking a menu button beneath it. On one side are a volume/zoom rocker with separate video and still camera shutter buttons. On the other side you'll find a 3.5mm jack and micro USB slot covered by a rubber grommet.
The display looks good but it's a poor touchscreen
On the back is an oddly placed power/screen lock button and, next to the 5Mp camera, an LED flash. It's a nice-looking, sturdy little handset and that curved back is both eye-catching and comfortable in the hand.
