FBI hunt gun-waving, skateboarding bank robber

Feds ramp up search after thief's quick rollaway

The FBI in San Diego are hunting a low-tech bank robber who shunned the usual getaway car and fled from his latest heist on a skateboard.

The bandana'd bandit was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol when he held up the Comercia Bank in San Diego on Monday.

He apparently lifted his shirt, showing off his weapon, and demanded the teller dump cash into his backpack.

He then escaped on his skateboard.

An FBI news alert described him as wearing "a black beanie cap, black gloves, black backpack, black sweatshirt, black pants, dark colored skater shoes, green paisley colored bandana".

If that's not enough to go they also had a reasonably detailed description of his getaway vehicle, which they described as a "dark colored skateboard with two flips at one end of skateboard".

Two flips at one end sounds fairly radical. When we were young having a single flip at either end of the deck was considered rather cool. The colour of the skateboard is not recorded. We're guessing it was black.

The FBI have no leads yet, but presumably have a CSI team on standby for when they inevitably find the dumped getaway skateboard. Let's hope he hasn't tried to eradicate any forensic evidence by burning it out.
