Blighty's carriers to field Windows Phone 7

Anyone care?

All of Britain's mobile phone networks will offer Windows Phone 7 handsets "later this year", Microsoft has revealed.

Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U will get to sell them, but that's no surprise, perhaps.

The most recent round of rumours narrow that window to sometime next month, but that's not a detail Microsoft confirmed - or denied - today.

The big question is, of course, does anyone care other than social networking yoof looking for the hip new alternative to the iPhone - assuming they'll be willing to forgo all the apps they've downloaded.

It's hard to see Windows Phone 7 appealing to the growing band of Android fans since it replicates rather a lot of what they don't like about the Apple product: primarily a walled garden app ecosystem.
