Zuckerberg leapfrogs Jobs on Americans' rich list

Facebook boydroid Mark Zuckerberg has more pennies in his piggy bank than Apple boss Steve Jobs, according to the latest Forbes rich list.
According to Forbes 2010 rich list of the wealthiest Americans, 26-year-old Zuckerberg now has a net worth of $6.9bn. Of which $4bn was added to his personal treasury this year, pushing him into 35th place on the so-much-money-I-don’t-know-what-to-do-with-it roster.
The Harvard drop-out made the biggest leap on the Forbes list this year, after private equity firms valued Facebook at around $23bn.
Jobs, meanwhile, has a net worth of $6.1bn – which puts iPhone’s big daddy in the number 42 slot of the Forbes list.
Zuckerberg, who will soon be the subject of David Fincher’s film The Social Network, also has more money stuffed under his mattress than craggy-faced media tycoon Rupert Murdoch.
The News Corp boss has $6.2bn net worth, placing him at number 38 on the richest Americans list.
For the 17th year running, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates remains the wealthiest American with $54bn in the bank. His best mate Warren Buffett comes in at number two with $45bn.
Mexican telecoms gazillionaire Carlos Slim toppled Gates from the world number one spot earlier this year.
Oracle founder Larry Ellison holds the third spot with his personal fortune of $27bn, which is almost entirely tied up in the database giant's business. ®
