Ad touts benefits of pubic school to South Benders

Indiana bill board suffers lewd omission

A billboard praising South Bend, Indiana's Public Schools last week missed a crucial ingredient - the letter L.

The digital ad, which was promoting the southbendon.com website, went up last Thursday. One of its rotating messages encouraged motorists to go to the website to find out the "15 best things about our pubic schools".

Just to add to the city's embarrassment, the alarm doesn't seem to have been raised till Saturday, according to WSBT.

The city disavowed any responsibility for the lewd typo, pointing out that it was Blue Waters Group, a contractor for the city's development commission, that was responsible for the alphabetical omission.

“We take responsibility for it. We simply blew it. We did not see the missing L," a Blue Waters spokesman told WSBT-T.

You can see the ad in its full glory on this local news report. The newscaster helpfully explains that the ad says Pubic instead of Public, presumably for the benefit of any viewers who went to school in South Bend.

The ad was fixed by late Monday, but the city has no doubt been reaping the benefit all week as the rest of America ponders the pubic services potential of South Bend. ®
