Three links phones to Facebook for free
Well, some of it
Three is to offer its customers free access to Facebook, allowing them to connect to the social network without paying a penny in data transfer charges.
For now, at least. Three did mention right at the bottom of its announcement today that free access will be provided for "at least one full year". Maybe it'll start charging a year from now, and maybe it won't.
While it lasts, gratis connectivity to Facebook will come only through the network's 0.facebook.com URL rather than its main address or the generic mobile friendly m.facebook.com.
It's well pared down so the data use is minimal, with content like photos a click away at parts of the site that do incur mobile data charges. ®
