Unabomber victim wants his money

Apple is challenging a $625.5m court judgment awarded to Mirror Worlds for patent infringement.

The computer giant wants an emergency stay on the verdict found against it last Friday. The court found Apple guilty of patent infringement and awarded damages of $208.5m for each offence.

It said there were outstanding issues around two of the three patents at issue and around the jury's verdict form. Its filing also said there were pending counterclaims for inequitable conduct.

It also accused Mirror Worlds LLC of "triple-dipping" by asking for payment on three different patents, Bloomberg reports.

The case concerns Spotlight, Time Machine and Cover Flow parts of Mac OS - use for searching, automatically archiving and displaying documents and images respectively.

Mirror Worlds was founded by Yale Professor David Gerlernter.

Gerlenter has written about recovering from a bomb sent by the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski, in 1993.
