Android con offers ex-Nokia staff discount

Symbian urchins patted on head

The organiser of Droidcon is offering a discount to Nokia's Symbian development staff at the gathering of London's Android developers.

The event runs next Thursday and Friday in Islington, and attendance will set you back just shy of 200 quid. But if you're one of those affected by Nokia's change of direction then drop Dominic a line and he'll be pleased to send over a discount code letting you in for about half that.

The event has speakers from development companies and application distributors, as well as advertisers and others involved in the mobile application ecosystem. Google will be running boot camps for those wanting to make a start in Android development, while others might prefer help with Air development (Adobe's AIR having appeared in the Android Marketplace a week or so back).

Nokia staff eager to stay with the company might prefer to swot up on their Meego skills, though - we don't expect to see Nokia embracing Android any day soon. ®
