Footie fans in 'cunthorpe Utd' calendar shocker
Club grovels after rude merchandising mishap
Scunthorpe United has apologised to 2,000 fans for rather unfortunately dropping the "S" from the club's name in a personalised 2011 calendar, the Sun reports.
According to the paper, the £12.99 calendar "each month shows photos of the Championship club's players as well as prominently displaying the fan's name".
Fan Jamie Muir got one as a Xmas present from his mum, but when he flicked through to September, he was "stunned" to find that a hoarding which should have declared "Jamie Muir, Scunthorpe United Number 1 Fan", was missing the crucial letter.
Pub landlord Muir said: "I had to rub my eyes. I thought I was seeing things. Initially, I thought the publishers had made a mistake with mine."
In fact, a grovelling letter of apology from the club showed that Muir wasn't the only victim of the outrage. The missive included a correctional sticker to cover the offending omission, but Muir chuckled: "They asked us to put it over the mistake, but I reckon I'll keep it as it is!"
Michelle Harness, speaking for the "tupid ods" down at Scunthorpe, offered: "It was an unfortunate error." ®
