Google grabs Oracle veep to lift EMEA cloud biz
They have two settings: stun and kill... It'd be best not to confuse them
Google has hired a former senior Oracle veep to head up the company's Enterprise division in EMEA.
Sebastien Marotte will lead Google's sales team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the world's largest ad broker.
Marotte had worked as Oracle's senior vice president of technology in the database giant's Asia Pacific region, based in Singapore.
Before that he spent 15 years at Hyperion Solutions, which was eventually bought by Oracle, as a sales manager.
In his job at Google, Marotte will be based in London and report directly to the company's international enterprise sales veep Amit Singh.
“Over the last year we’ve seen our business in EMEA accelerate considerably and we will continue to invest in the region to respond to the growing appetite for our products,” said Singh.
Marotte said cloud computing was now "mainstream" and added that he hoped to take Google's cloudy biz "to a new level". ®
