Big Brother chooses Telstra for network

Endemol in managed networks services buy

Acquisition-hungry TV production powerhouse Endemol UK has selected the international arm of Australian carrier Telstra to provide a suite of managed network services.

Endemol UK recently expanded its growing empire acquiring production companies Tiger Aspect, Darlow Smithson and Tigress.

With more than a quarter of Endemol’s employees working remotely, connecting to the corporate network to access email, documents and content is paramount during the production and post production processes of creating shows as ‘Deal or No Deal’ and ‘Total Wipeout’ and ‘Big Brother’. All employees in the UK are required to connect to the central London office to access data and will now use Telstra International’s MPLS network.

The new IT infrastructure will allow constant secure access to all resources, whilst managing peaks in usage. Endomol is also looking at implementing additional technology to enhance productivity and enable additional cost savings such as VoIP and video conferencing.

“For the productivity of such a creative company to be maximised, there should be no IT concerns with the day-to-day support of its workforce. By ensuring its workers have reliable connections to the company network outside the office, Endemol can focus solely on creating the innovative programming that is much loved around the world,” said Andrew Wildblood, vice president sales, Telstra International EMEA.
