Hack spies 'iPad 2' at mag launch

Debut imminent?

A gadget that may be the next iPad was seen at the launch of decorative, coffee table-friendly newsmagazine The Daily yesterday.

According to the Reuters reporter who spotted the tablet, the only thing he or she could say that was different from the current model was "a front-facing camera at the top edge of the glass screen".

The reporter didn't note the presence of the anticipated mega-speaker, rear-facing camera, SD card slot or other extra portage the 'iPad 2' is rumoured to sport.

It's now more than 12 months since Apple announced the original iPad, at a special event on 27 January 2010. The company traditionally updates products annually, so an iPad 2 announcement is expected at any moment. Especially with a heap of competition coming soon.

Apple exec Eddy Cue said the company would shortly make an announcement about in-app subscriptions and the like. Two birds with one stone, you think? ®
