Stock Exchange says soz for downtime

Back in time for lunch

Trading has restarted on the London Stock Exchange this afternoon after a systems failure closed it for business this morning.

At 8.03am the market was paused as technical problems became clear, by 8.33am trading was halted - see our story here.

Continuous trading restarted at 12.15pm this afternoon. The LSE said it had identified the source of the problem and "gained confidence in the remedial steps needed to restore market connectivity".

Xavier Rolet, CEO of the London Stock Exchange Group, said: "We sincerely regret the inconvenience that today's disruption to trading has caused our customers.  We have resolved the real time data dissemination issue and our UK cash equity markets have now resumed trading. "

LSE has recently moved to a new trading platform called MillenniumIT.

There were also trading outages on Tuesday and Thursday last week.

And the LSE had problems in late January too. ®
